Expected behavior

Maybe just generate cobble stone. Not sure if it's intended but it boosts your island level by a lot if you have other generators active (ie : gold, iron, diamond.)

Observed/Actual behavior

Entire oceans can be used to boost island level from generator.

Steps/models to reproduce

Place a lava bucket over ocean and it outputs like it's a generator. This can be used to boost your island level massively. This can be done in overworld, nether and the end. While I'm not sure how this can be solved other than outputting only cobblestone if this is done over the ocean?

In Minecraft there are 4 different block generators for lava:

• lava source touches water turns into obsidian (not changed)
• flowing lava touches water on the same level turns into cobblestone (marked as COBBLESTONE in addon)
• flowing lava is above water turns into stone (marked as STONE in addon)
• flowing lava touches soulsoil next to blue ice turns into basalt (marked as BASALT in addon)

In this addon you can toggle which of them works for each gamemode and for each custom block output. For AcidIsland you need just to disable STONE block generators, so everything works only for COBBLESTONE and/or BASALT.

We also have an option to set the minimal and maximal height were generator works, so you could set that STONE generators work only above or below sea level. It would allow stone generators to work everywhere, except when you do it on sea level.

@kjburr this is working as designed, and it is configurable — the addon has a per-tier setting for exactly this, it is just not documented well enough to find.

Minecraft makes blocks from lava in four ways, and each generator tier declares which one it reacts to:

Vanilla mechanic	Block created	Generator type

Pouring a lava bucket over the ocean is the third row, so only your STONE tiers fire there. Two ways to stop it:

1. Do not give players STONE tiers. Set your generators to COBBLESTONE and/or BASALT only, so players have to build a real generator. In the Admin GUI: /[admin] generator → pick a tier → Generator Type.
2. Restrict the height range. Give STONE tiers a minimum and maximum Y that excludes sea level, so they still work in caves or high above the water, but not on the ocean surface.

• MagicCobblestoneGenerator#175 — the Generator Type button in the GUI now spells out which lava mechanic each type reacts to.
• docs#91 — the documentation gains a generator types section, a warning about STONE tiers on open water, and an FAQ entry.

Thanks for looking into this. As I understand the restrict height range, is it possible to add exclude say height range 64 (sea level) only. This is what the current config looks like so I'm not sure how to go about adding it.

It almost seems as though a acidisland exclude height 64 only option would be beneficial? I do see the issues with only excluding 1 height but should help a ton. I'm probably just missing something I'll wait for the PR and thanks again.

Currently, there is no option to exclude the height. You can set min and max value.
Also, it would confuse users why the generator does not work exactly at 64 while everywhere else it works. I would suggest to better limit it either underwater, or overwater for "lore", and it would resolve the confusion.

This is how it is in the template for one of the generators. Here you can see that you can define general height range where generator tier operates, and then you can adjust it per-block if you need to.
In this example generator operates from 0 till 256, however magma block is generated only from 0 till 32

Both PRs are merged, so this is resolved on the discoverability side:

• #175 — the Generator Type button in the admin GUI now spells out which vanilla lava mechanic each type reacts to, so it is clear before you open the picker that STONE means lava flowing down onto water and therefore fires on any water a player can reach. The same PR also brought all 23 translated locale files back in sync with en-US.
• docs#91 — the documentation gained a generator types section with the four mechanics, a warning about STONE tiers on open water, and an FAQ entry.

@kjburr the practical fix for your server is to set your overworld tiers to type: COBBLESTONE (the shipped template uses COBBLESTONE_OR_STONE, which is why this happens by default). Built generators keep working; lava poured onto open water then just makes plain vanilla stone. As @BONNe said, a height range cannot exclude a single level, so limiting a STONE tier to clearly underwater or overwater is the better option if you want to keep it.
