Description

@ShantKhatri

DevCard is growing and we're looking for contributors who want to step up as maintainers or mentors. Whether you're new to open source or have some experience, there's a role for you here. This is a great opportunity to learn, contribute meaningfully, and grow your profile as an open source contributor.

📌 About DevCard

DevCard is an open source developer profile exchange platform built with Fastify, React Native, and SvelteKit. Think of it as a business card for developers — shareable, open, and community-driven.

🙋 Who we're looking for

We have two roles open. You don't need to be an expert — just curious, consistent, and willing to learn.

🛡️ Maintainer

  • Review and merge pull requests with constructive feedback
  • Triage issues — label, prioritize, and close stale ones
  • Enforce contribution guidelines and code standards
  • Help shape the project roadmap and feature decisions
  • Keep the repo healthy: CI checks, docs, changelogs

🤝 Mentor

  • Guide first-time contributors through their first PR
  • Answer questions on issues and discussions — no question is too basic
  • Help contributors understand review comments, not just fix them
  • Write and improve beginner-friendly documentation and setup guides
  • Identify and tag good first issue tasks for newcomers

📚 What you'll learn

Taking on either role is a hands-on learning experience. Here's what you can expect:

  • Git workflows — branching, rebasing, PR reviews
  • OSS project management — issue triage and roadmap thinking
  • Fastify backend patterns and API design
  • SvelteKit frontend and React Native mobile
  • Technical writing — changelogs, docs, contributor guides
  • Community leadership and async communication

✅ Minimum expectations

  • At least 1–2 merged contributions to DevCard (or a similar project)(If interested will workout on this on fast pace)
  • Willingness to ask questions and flag blockers early
  • Respectful, patient communication — we prioritize a welcoming environment

🚀 How to apply

Comment below with:

  1. Which role you're interested in (maintainer / mentor / both)
  2. A brief intro — your background and what you're currently learning
  3. A link to a past contribution (PR, issue, or other project — anything counts)
  4. What you hope to get out of this role

There's no deadline — this is a rolling process. First-time open source contributors are also welcome. 🙌
