[BUG] Large CPU usage after UniGetUI has been running a few hours

• I have searched for my issue and have not found a work-in-progress/duplicate/resolved issue.
• I have tested that this issue has not been fixed in the latest (beta or stable) release.

Describe your issue

After leaving my laptop on for a few hours I keep finding UniGetUI running lots and lots of choco.exe and chocolatey Shim processes using a lot of processor power and making the keyboard hot to touch.
Is there really a need to run all these processes? Must be hundreds and hundreds of them all starting and finishing rapidly!

Thanks for reporting this. It turned out that when a package listing operation timed out, the process behind it could sometimes keep running in the background.

I've fixed that by tracking those processes and cleaning them up automatically on timeout. I also improved the overall timeout handling for package listings, and adjusted Chocolatey so it won't retry operations that can't be recovered after a timeout.

The fix will be included in the next release.

Weirdly 2026.2.1 seemed to stop doing it after a while anyway. Maybe some Windows Update I installed changed things?!
