The EFI webpage has a very flexible method for users to specify custom taxonomy filters on sequences input to the various tools. They can select a "preselected conditions" option from a drop down menu that maps to a pre-defined, json-formatted file that ships in the EST repo that contains the filtering strings necessary to filter sequences to the appropriate taxons. But, it is also possible for users to hand craft their own set of taxonomy filters.
The website's interface for this custom taxonomy filter is not easily recreated in KBase app UI (as far as I know). Currently, no features of the taxonomy filter are implemented in the EFIToolsKBase apps. This issue will be the parent for two sub-issues: the first is the low hanging fruit of only enabling selection of the predefined keywords from a dropdown menu. The second issue will be enabling users to specify their own set of taxonomy filters.
