I've implemented the test peers command. Here's a summary of what was done:

crates/cli/src/commands/test/peers.rs — Complete implementation:

• TestPeersArgs struct with all CLI flags matching Go reference:
  • --enrs — comma-separated peer ENR addresses
  • --load-test-duration — load test duration (default: 5s)
  • --p2p-relays — relay URLs/multiaddrs (default: the 3 Obol relays)
  • --p2p-tcp-address — listening TCP addresses for libp2p
  • --p2p-disable-reuseport — disable TCP port reuse
• 5 peer test cases: Ping (1), PingMeasure (2), PingLoad (3), DirectConn (4), Libp2pTCPPortOpen (5)
• parse_peers() — parses ENR strings into Peer objects
• parse_relays() — parses relay URLs/multiaddrs
• run() — orchestrates tests, writes output, handles quiet/JSON-file modes
• 20+ unit tests covering filtering, parsing, scoring, and async run scenarios

crates/cli/src/commands/test/mod.rs — Updated list_test_cases() for TestCategory::Peers to delegate to supported_peer_test_cases().

Notes

• Test cases requiring a live libp2p swarm (Ping, PingMeasure, PingLoad, Libp2pTCPPortOpen) return Skip until swarm integration is available
• DirectConn attempts a real TCP connection using the peer's multiaddr IP/port

We faced some issues on the reference Go implementation with this feature:

We assume that a local relay is running, and a cluster with 3 peers has already been set up (node0, node1, and node2). The nodes are also running and are using the local relay.

• The test command (alpha test peers) loads all cluster peers from the lockfile as ENRs, and then tries to reach out to each of these peers (we also make the command point to the same local relay).
• Since the test command is running under an ENR that is not part of the cluster (by default it will create an private key when none is specified), the gater on each peer drops the connections immediately.
• If you run the test test command but include the --private-key-file argument and point to one of the private keys in the cluster (node0, node1 or node2), then it's able to pass the gater check.
• Nevertheless, this results in the test command being unable to connect to the peer that owns the private key, so the check does not succeed (it times out)
• We played around the Charon code to skip the connection against the node is impersonating and this allows the command to complete successfully.
