LocationSync for Sony ("the app") is provided as a free app. This page informs you about the data collected when you use the app.
The app accesses the device's GPS location exclusively to transmit it to your connected Sony camera via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Location data is processed entirely on-device and is never transmitted to any server or third party.
The app scans for and connects to nearby Bluetooth devices to identify and communicate with a paired Sony camera. Bluetooth device names and addresses are stored locally on the device (in app preferences) only to remember your selected camera between sessions. This data is never transmitted to any server or third party.
The following third-party services are active in release builds of the app. They are not active in debug builds.
Firebase Analytics is used to collect anonymous usage statistics to help improve the app.
Data collected includes:
- Device model and OS version
- App version
- App events (e.g. app open, first open)
- Approximate location (country/region, derived from IP address)
- Install source
No personally identifiable information (PII) is deliberately collected or sent to Firebase Analytics. Firebase Analytics data is processed by Google LLC and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Firebase Crashlytics is used to collect crash reports to help identify and fix bugs.
Data collected includes:
- Device model and OS version
- App version
- Stack traces and application state at the time of a crash
Crash reports do not contain personally identifiable information. Crashlytics data is processed by Google LLC and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Analytics and crash data is retained according to Google's standard Firebase data retention policies. Locally stored preferences (selected camera address) can be cleared by uninstalling the app or clearing the app's data via Android Settings.
