Pie chart has some differents from the column chart, so you should change the JSON chart configuration to create a column chart. Actually for the column chart you should define a series.
To implement a column chart, please, follows steps below:
In python-flask-mysql-template/app.py change

to

{"chart": 
                                 {"container": "container",
                                  "series":[
                                    {"enabled":True,
                                     "seriesType":"column",
