Thank you for great plugin, unfortunately for some reason I am unable to make it work for the three-dot comparison, even when Common ancestor is enabled. Using https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=letmaik.git-tree-compare works for me with identical setup.

AI take on it You configured it correctly. Git Scope 2026.1.4 is aggregating every file touched by the branch’s commits, including later reverted/renamed changes. That produces 12 files; GitHub’s final net diff has 9. The extra files are:

Sorry for late reply on this! I will have to dig into the behavior, I did not remember that Git Scope aggregates all files when using the common ancestor mode. I also saw your PR, I will have a look at them both and get back to you.

Finally I have had some time to look into this! It is obvious that I haven't properly tested the common ancestor mode, it was never the plan that you should see all files changed from every commit in the chain. So your analysis and proposed change in the PR looks like the correct approach.

I will take your PR as base and just add some tweaks to it, will release a 2026.2.1 soon including this.
