The current Lockdown UI doesn't fit the macOS environment. I believe that default macOS UI would be sufficient to communicate the status of the app. It would be great to have the option to switch between the 'fancy' UI and a more plain 'simple' UI.
An app I use called Meeter does something similar. From their Preferences:
With the 'Minimalist UI' looking like a native dropdown:
