There are many old issues that should be removed. I think we should
go through them and close them.

Through searching on is:issue state:open build we can see that 30 of them reference build (12 of them reference conan). Most of those are likely no longer relevant.

Feel free to close the ones that are obviously not relevant.

Even if we don't have a great and systematic process for handling issues, it's a lot better to have an issue with a good description, from someone who has that part of the code fresh in their head, than to rely on people to have to rediscover everything. Searching the issue tracker should ideally be a useful tool to figure out if someone else have stumbled upon a similar issue to yours in the past. So open issues that stay open for a long time, are not necessary bad. Obviously outdated issues of course are.

We don't have permission to close issues, otherwise I wouldn't mind doing that job. I also don't want to necrobump old issues with the question "Can we close this?": people are likely subscribed to their issues, and would get an annoying email about it.

I agree with the sentiment that issues should remain open until they're fixed, regardless of age.
