I think for mobile it should be on by default for 0.76+. For desktop, once we turn it on by default the. For those versions?

As a consumer, I think it would be unexpected if only some platforms enabled New Architecture by default. I think we should avoid differing behaviours (unless someone comes in and tells me it's fine).

This would mean that we cannot enable New Arch by default in new projects until 0.77 at the earliest.

To me, the unexpected is for RNTA to not simply inherit the defaults from the React Native version (of that particular platform).

Would it make sense and be possible for the defaults of these settings (hermes, fabric, bridgeless, new-arch, etc.) be determined by a matrix of React Native version and platform, to match the behaviour of React Native on that particular version + platform combination?

When we enabled Hermes by default, we only enabled it by default in new projects to avoid breaking existing setups. I think we need to do the same here to avoid surprises. Submitted a PR. Let me know what you think.

I guess this issue will resolve itself in the near future. As of React Native 0.82, new architecture can no longer be disabled.
