Readest is a modern, open-source eBook reader built for deep, focused reading. The name comes from early modern English, “thou readest”, reflecting a personal, immersive relationship with text.

In an age of constant distraction, long-form reading is fading. Readest moves in the opposite direction, toward slower, more deliberate, and more meaningful reading. Inspired by an earlier era, we see books not as content to consume, but as companions to reflect on and return to.
