doc: use @ code blocks to link to library functions#118

This commit switches from blockquote-style (`>`) code blocks to `@`, and wraps local references in single-quotes to generate hyperlinks to their haddock entries. This should make it easier to navigate and understand the examples given at the start of the module documentation.
