Pre-review for @marcduiker handoff: LGTM with one conflict note.
- Correct updates:
azd login→azd auth login, adds default-branch step to the release process, removes the outdated SDK doc pull section (now managed differently via git submodules/subtrees). - Warning: same maintainer-guide.md changes appear in #5101 and #5130 from the same author. Marc, pick one and close the duplicates — merging more than one will cause conflicts.
Safe to merge after CI (resolve overlap with #5101 and #5130 first).
