@IOOI-SqAR how would you translate in german mount/unmount of Wechseldatenträger in den Verzeichnisbaum?
Montieren/Demontieren, Einbauen/Ausbauen

MacOS has probably such terms only quite hidden since it is all automatic, maybe in DiskUtility or we need exmaples form Classic or Windows.

Hi @rmottola, in Disk Utility it is "aktivieren/deaktivieren" and IMHO this translation is a good fit.

/* File: ../Source/NSDocument.m:839 */
"Can't create backup file. Save anyways?"
= "Non si pu\U00F2 create un file di backup. Lo devo salvare lo stesso?";
= "Impossibile creare un file di ripristino. Salvare comunque?";

Here you use ripristino but in line 126 you use backup. We should try to be consistent in the wording.

You are right. It is not the same technically. I copied german translation here. Ripristino is restore, backup has no common usage word in Italian that I know (it would be "riserva" but it is not used in computer jargon).
So either "Archivio di ripristino" or "File di backup". will think about it.

= "Non \U00E8 stato possibile caricare il file %@.";
/* File: ../Source/NSDocument.m:838 */
"File Error" = "Errore con un file";
"File Error" = "Errore nell'Archivio";

IN other place you still use file and I think this is a common phrase in italian.

Debatable, it is a pure English word in common use. Common translation user-facing is "Archivio" in mac heritage, while MS windows does not translate it. So user-facing should be Archivio, while in technical message maybe File can slip in.

E.g. the "File" Menu was archivio on mac, now they transitioned to File it but I don't like it. It is a bit taste, German is more consistent there.

Another possibility is "einbinden" or "verbinden" and "auswerfen"

sounds good for ... auswerfen is more like "eject" that was used for floppies/CD-roms and other "ejectable media" which are a subset of removable media.

I'll set to Aktivieren/Deaktivieren/Auswerfen (some of these are actually in GWorkspace).

Question (also valid for GWorkspace translations) for @IOOI-SqAR @fredkiefer . How to translate "Home" if at all. Both Italian and German. The meaning here is "Home Folder" so related to your directory.
If possible, I want to avoid using English. even If Apple or Microsoft do. Literal translation is ridicule.

I found in Italian "Principale" (= "haupt") aber auch "Inizio" (in Mac Finder) und Deutsch das sehr lange "Startseitenordner" und eher fuer einen Browser als fuer einen File Manager.
Was hat Mac Finder? Ist nicht leicht zu findern, den fast ueberall wird eignetlich der Kontoname in Finder gesetzt

I checked on my Mac (in Finder) but didn't find anything. So I asked Google: “Wie nennt Apple das Home Verzeichnis auf Deutsch?” and got the following answer: "Apple nennt das Home-Verzeichnis auf Deutsch Benutzerordner. In der Seitenleiste des Finders ist er meist mit dem Namen des angemeldeten Benutzers beschriftet (und einem Haus-Symbol versehen). Im System selbst trägt er im Hintergrund den englischen Unix-Namen Home"

Thanks Lars, that was exactly what I was looking for, it is the way I found the translation for Italian. Then it is rarely seen in Finder itself since the username is always provided, I noticed that!

Fred merged, I will make a mini pull-request with that fix.
