**High level overview** In this release, we are expanding stockplotr's ability to use output from stock assessment modelling tools by supporting the integration of WHAM output into stockplotr. This step will expand stockplotr's integration into the stock assessment reporting pipeline by adding to its ability to take output from SS3, BAM, Rceattle, r4ss, and FIMS and create semi-automated tables and figures. **Detailed overview** All December planned developments including the features: - Compatibility for WHAM into `convert_output()` leading to its use throughout all of {stockplotr} - Development of supporting function to aid users in directly adding alt text and a caption to the csv for external objects. (increasing reproducibility of the workflow) (TBD if completing) Also including any remaining medium priority figures.
Due by December 30, 2026High level overview: Due to no current features being planned for development for the month of November, most of user facing impacts will focus on any medium priority figures that are not yet completed for the quarter. However, this development time will be utilized efficiently to start on high resource developments planned for release in December. Detailed overview: All November planned developments including any completed medium priority figures.
Due by November 30, 2026**High level overview** **Detailed overview** All October planned developments including any completed medium priority figures.
Due by October 31, 2026High level overview: This month's release will focus on integrating new features that were requested by users following the stock assessment workflows workshop series, as well as, updating our contributor guide to provide better direction for outside contributors (non-maintainers) and have a set place to guide potential contributors. The contributor guide sets a high standard for our package in regards to best open science practices. Also, by releasing features that were requested by users, we are building trust with our user base of our responsiveness and ability to shift priorities to our users' wants and needs. Detailed overview: All remaining planned developments for the month of May including: - Updating the CONTRIBUTING.md FILE - Add arguments into table functions to allow the user to indicate how many decimals values should be rounded to - Add argument in functions to scale values in tables
Due by May 30, 2026•5/6 issues closedHigh level overview: This month's developments include a large expansion of the package. The indices table along with the biomass, abundance, and catch comparison tables will be available to the user. This month is also the deadline to finish developing and including any [high priority tables](https://github.com/nmfs-ost/stockplotr/issues/1). These developments and the others mentioned in the detailed overview will contribute to the breadth and utility of the package to the stock assessment user base. We will also officially release a method to extract key quantities that are required by the Species Information System (SIS). This cross-collaboration will form a linkage between the projects and allow assessment scientists to more easily and automatically extract SIS needs from their model results. Detailed overview: All September planned developments including the features - - Revamping the functions `table_indices()` and `table_bnc()` - Creating a reference point table for the executive summary - Adjusting the `plot_catch_comp()` function and renaming it to match current other naming conventions - Releasing a new function to extract key quanitites for SIS from the standard output Also to include any high priority tables that are completed/remaining in September.
Due by September 30, 2026**High level overview** In this release, we are adding more high-priority tables. These additions will facilitate communication of a stock assessment report's main findings to all stakeholders. **Detailed overview** All August planned development including: - new `table_weight_at_age()` Also to include any high priority tables that were completed in the month of August.
Due by August 31, 2026High level overview: This month's planned developments include features important to the user and answers a very common question we have received in feedback: adding reference lines for each model compared on a plot. We also aim to improve the package infrastructure in order to plan for low-effort, long term maintenance by building out our testing framework on utility functions. This also improve code coverage and the package's overall integrity. Outside the repository, we plan to outline a paper on {stockplotr} to have an official reference for the package from a software journal. Detailed overview: - Add plot of a reference line for each output listed in dat for a given plot - Add tests for figure utility functions improving code coverage and long term maintenance - Complete a short outline for a paper on {stockplotr} to submit to JOSS Also to include any high priority tables that were completed in the month of July.
Due by July 31, 2026**High-level overview** In this release, we are adding more high-priority figures and a table for the executive summary. These additions will facilitate communication of a stock assessment report's main findings to all stakeholders. We are also expanding stockplotr's ability to use output from stock assessment modelling tools by supporting the integration of r4ss output into stockplotr. This step will expand stockplotr's integration into the stock assessment reporting pipeline by adding to its ability to take output from SS3, BAM, Rceattle, and FIMS and create semi-automated tables and figures. Third, to make stockplotr easier to navigate, contribute to, and understand, we are adding clear documentation that will explain the purpose of each file in our package, and a "how-to" guide for contributors. This sets clear standards for fixing bugs and adding new features, ensuring the tool stays reliable as it grows. **Detailed overview** All June planned improvements to the package including the following features: - Update the converter for SS3 to accept the {r4ss} output - Create a projections table for use in a SAR executive summary - Create README.md files for each folder in the package to improve documentation and make contribution easier Also to include any high priority figures completed this month (plotting discards and selectivity).
